Occasionally a C8 will pop up for sale and the owner is showing a letter from the National Corvette Museum saying the car is "1 of 1." Or there will be a car at a random car show with a sign on it saying it is "1 of 1."
I have always kind of wonders how rare that whole "1 of 1" thing really is. Going by what I can search for with the C8Tracker Custom Search tool, plus some crazy database queries I have hacked together... the answer to that question always pointed to "1 of 1" not being rare at all, and that the vast majority of C8's fall into that category. But I could never come up with a way to get that data quickly. Well tonight, with the help of ChatGPT, I now have a way to query my database and get the answer quickly.
What is the answer? How many C8's are that "1 of 1" spec?
The answer: Nearly all of them.
What percentage of C8's fall into that "1 of 1" category?
- 2020 Stingray - 98.2%
- 2021 Stingray - 97.9%
- 2022 Stingray - 96.1%
- 2023 Stingray - 96.5%
- 2023 Stingray 70th Anniv - 90.0%
- 2023 Z06 - 99.5%
- 2023 Z06 70th Anniv - 98.7%
- 2024 Stingray - 95.1%
- 2024 Z06 - 99.3%
- 2024 E-Ray - 99.3%
I stopped at 2024 since there are still some 2025 window stickers I'm waiting on, so that data set isn't complete. But as you can see, pretty much every C8 falls into this "1 of 1" category. So much so that it's pretty meaningless.
It would appear that with a fairly large list of available options, there are so many possible combinations that can be ordered, so the result is pretty much every car is a unique spec. Doe it matter? Will a buyer care? Probably not.
But, if you find it to be a fun piece of trivia about your car, keep on having your fun as that is what these cars are all about. I always just found this to be an interesting data point and was curious where these percentages would land.
Oh and if anyone wants to buy a "C8Tracker Certified 1 of 1" piece of merch or something, I'd be happy to sell them to the 170,000 or so owners of "1 of 1" C8's ;)
