I had always assumed that making the transition to model year 2024 on the site would be pretty simple. I figured there would just be a handful of 2023's with window stickers still up in the air, so making a pretty clean move to 2024 would be pretty simple. But as most of you know, the current situation with 2023 window stickers is pretty much a mess. There are still close to 1,000 2023 cars (Stingray and Z06) with their window stickers still up in the air while the cars sit and wait at the factory.
So the transition is going to look like this. When the daily update kicks off, it is going to start out looking for window stickers for MY24 cars. This is because it should be a fairly quick process as there probably won't be a ton of them and they start at VIN #1 now.. so there won't be a huge backlog to search thru each day. I figure this search will take an hour or two.
Once the search for 2024's is done, the site will go back to the 2023's. I'll have to feel out this situation. I can't have the site hammering the GM window sticker site for 6+ hours a day and hammering it with tens of thousands of requests for window stickers. If the giant backlog of window stickers for the 2023's doesn't get better soon, I may have to switch to only searching thru the 2023 VINs a few times per week. Definitely not ideal for the large amount of people looking out for their 2023 orders window sticker.. but its the best idea I have right now. We'll see how things go, hopefully the 2023 backlog gets cleared out pretty quick and this is a non-issue.
Currently, the Vehicles and Dashboard sections are capable of showing 2024 data, but they default to 2023 since there isn't any 2024 data out there yet. Once the 2024 data is available, I'll make 2024 the default year (currently you can select 2024 as the year to view). The Z06 Dashboard seems like it will have some issues with 2024 data... I'm having trouble with some errors and since it's almost midnight, I'm out of time to mess with it tonight. It should be a pretty easy fix when I have some actual 2024 data to test with.
Oh and don't expect to see E-Ray data any time soon. Production of those is still a month or so away. I'll add it when it's available, but that definitely isn't happening tomorrow.
