Well, after a week the window stickers are still not available for more recently built cars. I didn't want to wait around, so I spent this weekend working out some new sources for data. I have some new data sources in place and they are currently feeding data into the site. The new data is coming from a variety of places, but they are all legit sources and not just random garbage.
I don't believe vehicles for every dealer will be available in these new sources (so it won't likely be possible for the site to account for every car). So when you look at the dealers page, you will see a green or grey dot next to the dealers name. If the dot is green, that means one of our new data sources had a vehicle for this dealer, so we assume that we will be able to keep getting data for vehicles built for these dealers. If the dealer is marked with a grey dot, that means we have not gotten any new data for this dealer from our new sources.
Right now, 268 dealers are marked as "green." Over the next few days and weeks, this number should go up as we add more vehicles to the data set. We'll see how it goes. I still hope that the window stickers will come back, but if they don't, my new setup should at least make the site useful for people to see how many cars are going to their dealers and give them an idea of where the may be in line for an allocation.
SInce the dashboards are only worthwhile if they can account for every car, they will not show any new data for now. I'm not going to add the "non-window sticker" data to those dashboards until I am more confident in its completeness. The dealer comparison pages still only show window sticker data, I will probably change them to show all available data (with the dealers marked grey or green) in the next few days.
